Destination Manas
From Dec. 10 through Dec. 17, 2016, I traveled with tanker crews deploying from Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. to the Transit Center at Manas, Kyrgyzstan to cover base operations. Manas was set to close within months as the war in Afghanistan drew to a close. These photos were shot for a Pacific Northwest Inlander assignment. This was also the first time my Instagram photos taken from an iPhone were used in print .
